How Women's ALI is adapting with COVID-19

In this unprecedented time of a worldwide pandemic and social distancing, we at Women’s Artistic Leadership Initiative (ALI) are carefully monitoring the unfolding events as they pertain to our community programming.

While in many respects the future is unclear, of this we are certain: our mission to train artists in essential business and leadership skills has become all the more relevant, even urgent. We are resolved to continue our work and we will still host our Summer Leadership Intensive, though adapting the format to our changed world.

Held August 10-12, the Summer Leadership Intensive will now offer two components: A virtual conference open to women of all ages across the range of artistic disciplines, accompanied by an exclusive conference track for ALI Fellows—undergraduate-age women pursuing a degree in the arts. Our programming for ALI Fellows will include all previous Intensive components, including individual mentoring with a professional in their area of expertise, round table discussions, and workshops designed to enhance their business artistry. Keynote speaker, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions will be open to all registered participants. Detailed information outlining these opportunities is available at www.womensali.org.

This year’s chosen theme “Create Art. Create Opportunity” feels especially poignant during a time of economic recession that has significant consequences for many arts organizations. The arts are a vital and integral part of our communities, and we firmly believe that this period can be used to strengthen both individual artists and organizations as we work towards a more comprehensive education of the business artist. The Women’s ALI mission—Educate, Empower, Engage—fills us with hope and resolve as we move forward and we hope your personal journey will intersect with ours at the 2020 Summer Leadership Intensive.

Health and safety to you and yours,

Stephanie Rhodes Russell
